Rejoin split files

• Restores files cut into parts by HJSplit, 7-Zip, Total Commander, GSplit and other splitters: movie.mpg.001, .002, … or data.part1, .part2, … are joined byte for byte into the original file.
• Add one part, get the whole set: the other parts of the same file in that folder are added automatically and sorted in natural order (.009, .010, .011).
• Checks before joining: a missing part (also a missing last part, when a checksum file lists it), a part of the wrong size (usually an incomplete download), the same part number twice, or a total size that differs from a Total Commander .crc file. You see one warning listing every problem, and the safe answer – don’t join – is the default.
• Parts moved out of number order can be joined in number order or in your order.
• The original name is suggested for the output: movie.mpg for movie.mpg.001.

Checksum verification

• Finds .sfv, .md5, .sha1, .sha256, .sha512, Total Commander .crc, MD5SUMS, SHA256SUMS and CHECKSUMS files next to the parts by itself – no need to add them to the list.
• Verifies each listed part and the joined file (CRC32, MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-512). The checksums are computed while the data is copied, so verification costs almost no extra time.
• If a checksum does not match, the message names the damaged part, and you decide whether to keep the result or delete it; an existing output file is never replaced by a damaged one.

ZIP and RAR archives

• Spanned ZIP archives (backup.z01, backup.z02, …, backup.zip) from WinZip and Info-ZIP are rebuilt into one standard ZIP file. Simply appending them gives a damaged archive; Easy File Joiner rewrites the archive directory instead. Nothing is unpacked or recompressed, and archives over 4 GB (ZIP64) are supported.
• Merge ZIP archives: several complete ZIP files become one archive that contains the files of all of them.
• RAR volumes (.part1.rar, .r00) are recognized, and you are told which volume to open in WinRAR or 7-Zip instead.

MP3 and WAV recordings

• MP3 join without re-encoding: no loss of quality, as fast as copying. The first file’s tags are kept, the tags of the other files are removed from the middle of the audio, and the Xing/VBRI header is updated, so players show the full length and seek correctly.
• WAV join: one correct RIFF header for the whole recording, with the first file’s title and artist information. Results over 4 GB are written as RF64. Recordings that were never closed properly are joined with all their audio.
• Differences in sample rate, channels, MPEG version or sample format are listed before joining.

Text, log and CSV files

• Each file starts on a new line, in the line-break style of the first file (CR+LF or LF).
• Byte order marks of the second and later files are removed; UTF-16 files are handled correctly.
• CSV and TSV tables: when all files start with the same header row, keep only the first one and get one clean table.

Safe by design

• Your files are only read, never changed. The result is written to a temporary .joining file and renamed only when everything succeeded, so Stop, a full disk or an error never leave a half-written output file.
• Warnings before joining complete videos (MP4, MKV, AVI), PDF and Office documents, pictures and programs, which can’t be combined by appending them, and before joining files of different types.
• Files of any size, including results over 4 GB, and folder paths longer than 260 characters.

Works the way Windows does

• Drag and drop files or whole folders onto the list; a folder adds all files in it and its subfolders.
• Explorer context menu: select the parts, right-click and choose Join files with Easy File Joiner. Also Send to and dropping files on the program icon. No code is loaded into Explorer.
• Drag files up and down, sort by name, size or folder, or move them with Ctrl+Up / Ctrl+Down.
• Progress bar with speed and time left, also on the taskbar button.
• Joined files list: the last 100 joins with size, date, number of files and method; open a result or its folder with one click.

Command line

• efjoin.exe brings the same joining engine, checks and checksum verification to batch files, scripts and scheduled tasks. Setup can add it to the PATH.
• Files, folders and wildcards; /mode to choose the join method, /dry-run to preview, /force, /overwrite, /quiet; clear exit codes for scripts.
• Example: efjoin movie.avi.001 rejoins all parts into movie.avi and verifies them against the .sfv file in the folder.

Modern Windows support

• Runs on Windows 10 and 11, 32-bit and 64-bit, with Unicode file names and high-DPI displays.
• No runtime libraries needed. Setup installs into Program Files with Start menu shortcuts, built-in help and a full uninstaller.
• Freeware for personal, business, educational and government use, on any number of computers, with no registration.

How to join split files (.001, .002) on Windows

1. Add the parts: choose File > Add Files (Ctrl+O) or drag the first part, for example movie.mpg.001, onto the list. The other parts in that folder are added automatically. You can also select the parts in Explorer, right-click and choose Join files with Easy File Joiner.
2. Check the order: the parts are sorted in number order. Move a file with Ctrl+Up / Ctrl+Down if you join files of your own.
3. Check the output file: the original name, movie.mpg, is suggested in the Output file box. Click Browse to choose another name or folder.
4. Join: choose Action > Join Files (F5). Missing or incomplete parts are reported before joining, and checksum files found next to the parts are verified.
5. Open the result: the new file appears in the Joined files list. Press Enter to open it, or right-click and choose Open Containing Folder.

When you need to join or combine files

• A download in parts: a large file was split into .001, .002, … parts with HJSplit, 7-Zip, Total Commander or GSplit, and you need the original file back.
• A spanned ZIP backup (.z01, .z02, …, .zip) that will not open: rebuild it into one standard ZIP file.
• Several MP3 or WAV recordings – chapters of an audiobook, parts of a lecture – that should play as one file with the correct length.
• CSV exports or log files from different days or systems that you want in one table or one log, with the header row only once.
• Check that nothing is damaged: an .sfv, .md5 or .sha256 file came with the parts, and you want to know that every part and the joined file are correct.
