About The First Bancshares, Inc.
The First Bancshares was the holding company for The First Bank, a commercial and retail bank. It reported three segments: Commercial/Retail Bank, Mortgage Banking Division, and Holding Company.
Deposit products included checking, NOW, savings and money market accounts, CDs, IRAs and health savings accounts. Loans covered business working capital, expansion and equipment, consumer needs such as autos, home improvements and education, real estate construction and acquisition, and home purchase, construction and refinancing. It also offered wealth management.
Other services ranged from online banking, ATMs and mobile deposits to sweep accounts, cash management, safe deposit boxes, merchant services and credit cards. Clients included businesses, professionals, individuals, organizations and governments, served from offices in Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Louisiana.
The company was incorporated in 1995 and based in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Renasant Corporation acquired it as of April 1, 2025. Its stock was delisted from the NYSE in March 2025, with the final trade on March 31, 2025 at $33.81.
