About ESSA Bancorp Inc
ESSA Bancorp, Inc. was the holding company for ESSA Bank & Trust, which served individuals, families and businesses in Pennsylvania. Deposit products included savings, checking, interest-bearing demand, money market and club accounts, CDs, IRAs and commercial checking.
Its loans covered first mortgages on one- to four-family homes, commercial real estate, home equity loans and lines, auto loans, and commercial and consumer lending, including deposit-secured and unsecured personal loans. It also offered insurance benefits consulting for health, life, disability, dental and vision coverage and 401(K) planning, plus asset management, trust and investment services.
The bank had community offices in Monroe, Lehigh, Northampton, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties. Founded in 1916 and based in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, it was acquired by CNB Financial Corporation as of July 23, 2025. Its stock was delisted from the Nasdaq that month, with a final trade on July 23, 2025 at $20.61.
