About TELUS International (Cda) Inc.
TELUS International (Cda) Inc., later branded TELUS Digital, designed, built and delivered digital solutions for customer experience and related services. It was headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, and traced its history to 2005. The company was a subsidiary of TELUS Corporation, the Canadian telecommunications company, and served clients in technology and gaming, e-commerce and financial technology, healthcare, communications and media, automotive, and travel and hospitality.
Its services covered the lifecycle of digital transformation. They included customer support and contact center operations, digital strategy, consulting and analytics, workforce management, and technology services such as cloud contact center, platform transformation, user-interface design, quality testing, systems operations and IT engineering. It also provided data services, including collection, annotation, validation and relevance work, which supported artificial intelligence applications.
The company grew in part through acquisitions. It bought Competence Call Center in 2017, expanding its European operations, and acquired Lionbridge AI in 2020, which became its AI data solutions business. It later acquired the digital product design and engineering firm WillowTree in 2023. These transactions broadened its offering from customer service outsourcing to digital engineering and data services.
TELUS International completed its initial public offering in February 2021, listing subordinate voting shares on both the New York Stock Exchange and the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker TIXT on the NYSE. TELUS Corporation retained a controlling interest through multiple voting shares and subordinate voting shares. In 2024 the business was rebranded as TELUS Digital, although its legal name and ticker remained those of TELUS International.
In 2025, TELUS Corporation proposed to acquire the TELUS Digital shares it did not already own. Under the arrangement, shareholders could elect to receive US$4.50 in cash for each share, 0.273 of a TELUS Corporation share, or a combination of US$2.25 in cash and 0.136 of a TELUS share. TELUS Digital shareholders approved the plan on October 27, 2025, and the Supreme Court of British Columbia granted its final order on October 29, 2025.
TELUS announced completion of the transaction on October 31, 2025, with TELUS owning 100 percent of TELUS Digital. The total consideration to minority holders was approximately US$539 million, consisting of about US$509 million in cash and 1,849,374 TELUS shares, and TELUS expected around C$150 million in annual cash synergies. TELUS Digital's subordinate voting shares were delisted from the NYSE and the TSX, and the company applied to cease to be a reporting issuer in Canada and to deregister its shares in the United States.
