Vigil Neuroscience, Inc. was a clinical-stage biotech company in the United States working on treatments for rare and common neurodegenerative diseases by restoring the function of microglia, the brain's sentinel immune cells.
Its lead candidate, VGL101 (Iluzanebart), was a human monoclonal antibody that activates TREM2, in a Phase 2 trial for adult-onset leukoencephalopathy with axonal spheroids and pigmented glia (ALSP), a rare and fatal disease. VG-3927, an oral small molecule TREM2 agonist, was in Phase 1 for common neurodegenerative diseases, starting with Alzheimer's in genetically defined groups. It licensed TREM2-binding compounds from Amgen Inc.
Incorporated in 2020 and based in Watertown, Massachusetts, it became a subsidiary of Sanofi as of August 5, 2025. Its stock was delisted from the Nasdaq in July 2025, with a final trade on July 30, 2025 at $8.05.
