About Informatica Inc.

Informatica was founded in 1993 by Gaurav Dhillon and Diaz Nesamoney and is headquartered in Redwood City, California. It grew into one of the best-known vendors of data integration software, helping large enterprises move, clean, and manage data across databases, applications, and cloud services. The company first went public on Nasdaq in 1999.

In 2015 Informatica was taken private for about $5.3 billion by funds affiliated with Permira and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. During that period it shifted from perpetual licenses toward subscriptions and rebuilt its offerings as a cloud-based platform. It returned to the public markets in October 2021 with an initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol INFA.

Its Intelligent Data Management Cloud platform combined data integration, application and API integration, data quality, master data management, data cataloging, governance, and privacy tools. Customers included large corporations across banking, healthcare, retail, and the public sector, and the company sold through direct sales teams and partners such as the major cloud providers. Informatica pitched the platform as a foundation for analytics and artificial intelligence projects that depend on trusted data.

On May 27, 2025, Salesforce announced a definitive agreement to acquire Informatica for $25.00 per share in cash, an equity value of approximately $8 billion net of Salesforce's existing investment in Informatica. Salesforce said the acquisition would add data management, integration, and governance capabilities to its Data Cloud, Agentforce, and related products. Funds affiliated with Permira and CPP Investments, which held a large share of the voting power, supported the transaction.

Informatica stockholders approved the merger in late 2025, and the parties received the required antitrust clearances, including early termination of the Hart-Scott-Rodino waiting period. Salesforce completed the acquisition on November 18, 2025, and Informatica became a wholly owned Salesforce subsidiary.

Each share of Informatica Class A common stock was converted into the right to receive $25.00 in cash. The NYSE filed a Form 25 on November 18, 2025 to remove the stock from listing and registration, and trading in INFA ended. There is no continuing public listing for Informatica, whose operations now sit within Salesforce, which trades on the NYSE as CRM.

For Salesforce, the purchase was among the largest acquisitions in its history, alongside deals such as Slack and Tableau. The combination placed Informatica's data management tools next to Salesforce's customer relationship management and analytics products. Informatica's customers, partners, and employees continued under the Salesforce corporate umbrella after closing, and the Informatica brand and products remained available to the market.
