This clinical-stage biotech company, described as Aptose Biosciences Inc., discovered and developed precision cancer drugs, mainly in the U.S. Its lead oral kinase inhibitor, tuspetinib (HM43239), was a once-daily pill that had completed a Phase 1/2 trial aimed at kinases active in myeloid cancers, such as acute myeloid leukemia and higher risk myelodysplastic syndromes.
It held license agreements with the National Cancer Institute for clinical development of tuspetinib and with Hanmi Pharmaceutical Co Ltd. covering research, development and sales of the drug. Incorporated in 1986 and based in Toronto, Canada, the company was known as Lorus Therapeutics Inc. until August 2014.
