About Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc.
Warner Bros. Discovery was formed in April 2022 when Discovery, Inc. combined with WarnerMedia, the media business spun off by AT&T. The new company began trading on Nasdaq under the symbol WBD.
Its portfolio joined one of Hollywood's oldest studios, Warner Bros., founded in 1923, with HBO, CNN, the Max streaming service and Discovery's cable networks such as Discovery Channel, HGTV and Food Network.
In late 2025 the company agreed to sell its studio and streaming assets to Netflix, which set off a bidding contest. Paramount Skydance responded with a hostile all-cash tender offer and later raised it to $31 per share; in February 2026 the WBD board declared that offer superior and Netflix withdrew.
The merger closed on October 6, 2026. The combined company, named Skydance, began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol SKYD the same day.
