About Avinger Inc
Avinger was a commercial-stage medical device company that designed, built and sold image-guided, catheter-based systems for treating peripheral artery disease (PAD), mainly in the U.S. and Germany. Its lumivascular platform combined optical coherence tomography with treatment catheters to give real-time images inside the artery during procedures.
Products included Lightbox imaging consoles, Ocelot and Tigereye devices for crossing fully blocked arteries, and Pantheris, an image-guided atherectomy device for removing plaque. It was also developing IMAGE-BTK for PAD below the knee. Buyers were interventional cardiologists, vascular surgeons and interventional radiologists.
The company was incorporated in 2007 and based in Redwood City, California. Its shares were delisted from the Nasdaq in February 2025, with the last trade on February 14, 2025 at $0.47.
