The State Street Utilities Select Sector SPDR Premium Income ETF is an exchange-traded fund from State Street Investment Management that trades on NYSE Arca under the ticker XLUI.

The fund provides exposure to utilities companies in the S&P 500, the universe also represented by the Utilities Select Sector SPDR Fund, including electric utilities, gas and water utilities, multi-utilities and independent power producers. It layers an options strategy, typically involving the sale of call options, on top of this equity exposure to generate premium income.

The overlay is designed to supplement the income from utility stocks, but it may cap the fund's gains when the sector rallies.
