About VDV
Vanguard Developed Markets ex-US Value Index ETF (VDV) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks to track an index of value-oriented stocks in developed countries outside the United States. Its holdings come from markets such as Europe, Japan, Canada and Australia.
Value stocks are identified by the benchmark using measures such as price relative to book value, earnings and dividends. The fund follows a passive approach, holding companies across sectors in line with their index weights rather than selecting individual stocks. The value tilt tends to give the fund greater weight in sectors such as financials, energy and industrials.
The fund is managed by The Vanguard Group and is paired with a growth counterpart, the Vanguard Developed Markets ex-US Growth Index ETF.
