About DJP
The iPath Bloomberg Commodity Index Total Return ETN is an exchange-traded note issued by Barclays Bank PLC and listed on NYSE Arca. First launched in 2006, it is a senior unsecured debt obligation of Barclays rather than a fund that holds physical assets or futures.
The note is designed to pay a return linked to the Bloomberg Commodity Index Total Return, less investor fees. That index tracks a diversified basket of commodity futures contracts covering energy, grains, industrial metals, precious metals, softs and livestock, and its total return version also reflects interest earned on hypothetical Treasury bill collateral.
Because it is a note, holders receive a cash amount based on index performance at maturity or upon redemption, and repayment depends on the credit of Barclays Bank. The note provides no principal protection and pays no periodic interest.
