About DigitalBridge Group, Inc.

DigitalBridge Group, Inc. was a global investment firm focused on digital infrastructure, including data centers, cell towers, fiber networks, small cells and edge infrastructure. Its predecessor, Colony Capital, was founded in 1991 by Thomas Barrack. The company went public on the New York Stock Exchange in the 2010s through the Colony Financial structure and later became Colony Capital, Inc.

In 2017 Colony Capital combined with NorthStar Realty Finance and NorthStar Realty Europe in a merger that created a large diversified real estate and investment management company. Over the following years the company sold or spun off many of its traditional real estate holdings, including its hospitality and healthcare exposure, and increasingly directed its capital toward digital infrastructure.

In 2021 the company renamed itself DigitalBridge Group, with Marc Ganzi as Chief Executive Officer, and presented itself as an asset manager and operator in the digital economy. It raised capital from institutional investors through funds and managed vehicles, earning fee revenue, while holding balance-sheet stakes in its investment funds. It also took part in major transactions such as the acquisition of the data center operator Switch in 2022.

DigitalBridge maintained offices in Boca Raton, Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Denver, London, Senningerberg and Singapore. Its common stock traded on the NYSE under the symbol DBRG, and several series of its preferred stock were separately listed on the exchange as well.

In late 2025 DigitalBridge agreed to be acquired by SoftBank Group Corp., the Japanese technology investment company, for $16.00 per share in cash, a deal valued at roughly $4 billion including debt according to press reports. The transaction was subject to shareholder, regulatory and other approvals, which were to be gathered over the course of 2026.

On September 21, 2026, DigitalBridge announced that it had received all regulatory approvals required to complete the acquisition. SoftBank announced completion in the days that followed, at the end of September 2026. As a result of the transaction DigitalBridge became privately held, its common stock and listed preferred stock (the Series H, I and J) were removed from the NYSE, and a Form 25 was filed on September 30, 2026.
