About A-Mark Precious Metals, Inc. (now Gold.com, Inc.)
A-Mark Precious Metals is a full-service precious metals trading company that buys and sells gold, silver, platinum and palladium bullion, coins and bars. It acts as a wholesale distributor for sovereign mints and also provides storage, logistics, financing and minting services. Through direct-to-consumer brands such as JM Bullion, it sells precious metals and collectibles online to individual investors. The company operates in the United States and has expanded into international markets.
The business was founded in 1965 by Steven Markoff, starting as a coin dealer and growing into one of the largest precious metals wholesalers in the country. It later became part of Spectrum Group International. In March 2014 A-Mark was spun off as an independent public company with shares on Nasdaq under the symbol AMRK. The stock gained attention during periods of strong demand for physical gold and silver.
A-Mark grew its consumer business through acquisitions, most notably JM Bullion in 2021, and added other retail and collectibles brands over the following years. Demand surges during market turmoil drove record results in some years, while quieter metals markets lowered trading margins in others. Management positioned the company as an integrated platform covering wholesale, minting, storage and online retail.
In late 2025 the company announced that it would rebrand as Gold.com, Inc. and transfer its stock listing to the New York Stock Exchange. Shares began trading on the NYSE under the new symbol GOLD on December 2, 2025, ending trading under AMRK on Nasdaq. The share count and shareholder rights did not change, and the leadership team stayed in place.
