About The Southern Company
The Southern Company sells electricity through its subsidiaries. It supplies power to retail and wholesale customers and offers energy-related products and services in natural gas choice markets. It also develops, builds, buys, owns and runs power plants and battery storage projects, sells power in the wholesale market at market-based rates, and installs microgrids for commercial, industrial, government and utility customers.
The company distributes natural gas in Illinois, Georgia, Virginia and Tennessee, provides energy and resilience solutions, and invests in telecommunications. It was incorporated in 1945 and is based in Atlanta, Georgia.
