PPL Corporation (PPLC)

PPL Corporation supplies electricity and natural gas to about 3.6 million customers in the United States. It has three segments: Kentucky Regulated, Pennsylvania Regulated and Rhode Island Regulated. It transmits and distributes power in eastern and central Pennsylvania. In Kentucky, Virginia and Rhode Island it generates, transmits, distributes and sells electricity, and it distributes and sells natural gas in Kentucky and Rhode Island. It also sells wholesale power in Kentucky and runs power plants there.

Its power comes from coal, gas, hydro and solar sources. Previously named PP&L Resources, Inc., the company became PPL Corporation in 2000. It was founded in 1920 and is based in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
