BiomX Inc. (PHGE)

BiomX Inc. is a clinical-stage microbiome company based in Ness Ziona, Israel, and founded in 2015. It uses natural and engineered phages to target specific harmful bacteria. Its work addresses bacteria that affect skin appearance and chronic conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), cystic fibrosis (CF), atopic dermatitis and colorectal cancer (CRC).

Its lead program, BX004, is a phage therapy for CF patients with chronic Pseudomonas aeruginosa lung infections and is in Phase 1b/2a trials. BX005 is a topical phage cocktail aimed at Staphylococcus aureus, a bacterium linked to several skin conditions, and is in Phase 1/2 studies. BX003 is an oral phage cocktail in Phase 1b/2a trials that targets gut bacteria common in IBD and PSC patients.

In oncology, the company is working on engineered phage therapies for colorectal cancer. These are given intravenously and target Fusobacterium nucleatum bacteria inside the tumor environment. BiomX aims to develop new microbiome-based treatments for hard-to-treat bacterial infections and chronic diseases.
