Market Technology Acquisition Corp (MTAK) is a special purpose acquisition company, also called a blank-check company. It was formed to raise capital through an initial public offering and then use the proceeds held in its trust account to complete a merger, share exchange, asset acquisition or similar business combination with one or more operating businesses.

As its name suggests, the company is oriented toward businesses involved in financial market technology. The company does not run an operating business of its own; until a transaction is completed, its activity consists of searching for, evaluating and negotiating with potential acquisition targets.

If a business combination is approved by shareholders and completed, the combined company would typically continue as a listed operating company. If no deal is completed within the deadline set in its charter, the funds held in trust are generally returned to public shareholders.
