About ICPI
The iShares 0-1 Year TIPS Bond ETF is a BlackRock iShares fund that invests in U.S. Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities with very short remaining maturities, generally less than one year. It follows a passive index of these inflation-linked government bonds.
TIPS are Treasury securities whose principal is adjusted according to changes in the Consumer Price Index, so their payments rise with inflation. By concentrating on issues close to maturity, ICPI aims to provide inflation-linked exposure while keeping interest-rate sensitivity low. The fund is backed by the U.S. government's credit through its Treasury holdings and is often used as a short-duration alternative to cash or nominal T-bills for those focused on inflation protection.
