Alliance Resource Partners, L.P. (ARLP)

Alliance Resource Partners, L.P. is a diversified natural resource company based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and founded in 1971. It mainly produces and sells coal to U.S. utilities and industrial users. It has four segments: Illinois Basin Coal Operations, Appalachia Coal Operations, Oil & Gas Royalties, and Coal Royalties. Its thermal and metallurgical coals vary in sulfur and heat content.

The partnership runs seven underground mining complexes in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. It leases land for and operates a coal loading terminal on the Ohio River at Mt. Vernon, Indiana. It also trades coal and owns mineral and royalty interests on about 1.5 million gross acres in oil and gas regions including the Permian, Anadarko and Williston Basins.

In addition, it sells mining technology such as data networks, communication and tracking systems, proximity detection, industrial collision avoidance and data analytics software. Its proven and probable coal reserves were about 547.1 million tons, with a further 1.17 billion tons of measured, indicated and inferred coal resources.
