GKNT - Geeknet, Inc.
Geeknet, Inc. (GKNT) was an online retailer that specialized in selling merchandise related to various popular culture franchises. The company was founded in 1999 as ThinkGeek, and in 2015 it was acquired by GameStop.
Under GameStop's ownership, Geeknet continued to operate as a subsidiary, with a focus on expanding its product offerings beyond the traditional fan merchandise to include toys, games, and collectibles.
However, in 2016, GameStop announced that it was selling off Geeknet to Hot Topic, another retailer focused on pop culture merchandise. The sale was completed in June of that year.
Following the acquisition, Geeknet's website was merged with Hot Topic's existing website, and the brand was eventually phased out. As of 2021, the company no longer operates under the Geeknet name.
