About Yodlee, Inc.

Yodlee, Inc. built cloud software that gathered a person's financial account information from banks, card issuers, brokerages and other institutions and presented it in one place. Banks and wealth managers used its platform to offer account aggregation and personal finance tools to their customers, while fintech developers licensed its data feeds and application programming interfaces to power budgeting, lending and payments apps. The company was based in Redwood City, California, and kept a large engineering center in Bangalore, India.

Founded in 1999 during the first internet boom, Yodlee became one of the earliest companies to aggregate online financial data at scale. It spent many years as a venture-backed private company, building relationships with large banks that offered its tools under their own brands. Over time it added a developer business, often called Yodlee Interactive, that sold access to its data to startups and established firms. That second line of business grew faster as consumer finance apps became common.

Yodlee completed its initial public offering on Nasdaq in October 2014, selling shares at $12.00 under the symbol YDLE. The listing gave it a public currency and cash for growth, but the stock was volatile, and the company remained only modestly profitable. Revenue came mainly from subscription and usage fees paid by financial institutions and from its data platform customers, with a handful of large clients accounting for a sizable share of sales.

In August 2015 Envestnet, a provider of technology and services to financial advisors, agreed to buy Yodlee in a cash-and-stock deal. Envestnet wanted Yodlee's aggregated data to give advisors a fuller view of their clients' finances and to build analytics products. The deal valued Yodlee's fully diluted equity at about $610 million, or roughly $538 million net of cash. Yodlee shareholders approved the merger in November 2015.

The acquisition closed on November 19, 2015. Each Yodlee share was converted into $11.51 in cash and 0.1889 of an Envestnet common share, a package worth about $17.49 based on Envestnet's recent average price, and Yodlee's stock stopped trading on Nasdaq. It ran for years as Envestnet's data and analytics unit. Envestnet sold Yodlee to private equity firm STG in 2022, and Envestnet itself was later taken private by Bain Capital in 2024.
