Rightside
Group, Ltd. (NASDAQ: NAME) was a domain name services company
headquartered in Kirkland, Washington. The company was spun off from
Demand Media in 2014, and operated as a separate, publicly traded
company until 2017, when it was acquired by Donuts Inc.
Rightside Group offered various services, including domain name
registration, renewal, and transfer services, as well as value-added
services such as hosting and email. The company also sold premium
domain names to individual and corporate customers.
In 2017,
Donuts Inc. announced that it would acquire Rightside Group for
approximately $213 million. The deal closed later that year, and
Rightside Group became a subsidiary of Donuts. The acquisition
expanded Donuts' domain name portfolio, adding over 40 top-level
domains to its existing portfolio.
The acquisition of Rightside
