ZELTIQ Aesthetics, Inc. (ZLTQ) was a US-based medical technology company that developed and marketed non-invasive fat reduction and body shaping systems. The company's flagship product, CoolSculpting, used a patented cooling technology to selectively reduce fat cells in targeted areas of the body.
ZELTIQ Aesthetics was founded in 2005 and was headquartered in Pleasanton, California. The company's technology was based on the research of scientists at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital.
In 2017, ZELTIQ Aesthetics was acquired by Allergan plc, a global pharmaceutical company specializing in medical aesthetics, for $2.4 billion. Following the acquisition, ZELTIQ Aesthetics became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Allergan.
As of February 2023, ZELTIQ Aesthetics, Inc. no longer exists as a standalone company, and its operations have been integrated into Allergan, which is now part of AbbVie Inc. The CoolSculpting technology and related products continue to be marketed and sold under the Allergan Aesthetics brand.
