ZaZa Energy Corporation (ZAZA) was a US-based oil and gas exploration and production company with assets primarily located in Texas and Louisiana. The company was founded in 2011 and was headquartered in Houston, Texas.
ZaZa Energy focused on the exploration, development, and production of unconventional oil and gas resources, including shale formations and tight gas sands. The company's operations were primarily focused on the Eagle Ford Shale in south Texas, where it held approximately 72,000 net acres of leasehold as of 2014.
In 2014, ZaZa Energy announced that it had entered into a merger agreement with a privately-held oil and gas company called Toreador Resources Corporation. The merger was completed later that year, and the combined company was renamed Toreador Resources Corporation.
As of February 2023, ZaZa Energy Corporation no longer exists as a standalone company and has been merged with Toreador Resources Corporation. The combined company is focused on the exploration and development of unconventional oil and gas resources in the United States and Europe.
