About PotlatchDeltic Corporation
PotlatchDeltic Corporation was a timberland real estate investment trust headquartered in Spokane, Washington. The company traces its origins to the Potlatch Corporation, a long-established Pacific Northwest forest products company, which converted to a REIT in 2006. It owned timberlands in Idaho, Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi and Minnesota.
In 2018 Potlatch merged with Deltic Timber Corporation, an Arkansas-based timber and land company, and took the PotlatchDeltic name. The combination added Arkansas and Louisiana timberland and sawmill capacity. The company traded on Nasdaq under the ticker PCH.
In 2022 PotlatchDeltic completed an all-stock merger with CatchMark Timber Trust, creating a timber REIT with about 2.2 million acres. It also acquired Loutre Land and Timber in 2021, adding about 51,000 acres in Arkansas and Louisiana. Beyond its land base, PotlatchDeltic operated sawmills in Idaho and the South and an industrial-grade plywood mill, making wood products a major source of revenue and cash flow alongside timber sales.
The company also had a real estate segment that sold rural timberland and developed residential and commercial lots. Wood products earnings swung with lumber prices, which were weaker after the pandemic-era price spike, and this variability affected results at several timber REITs.
On October 2025, PotlatchDeltic and Rayonier announced a merger of equals in an all-stock transaction. PotlatchDeltic shareholders would receive 1.7339 shares of Rayonier common stock for each PotlatchDeltic share. The combined company was expected to own more than four million acres of timberland across the United States and to operate sawmills and a plywood mill. Both companies' shareholders approved the transaction.
The merger closed at the start of February 2026. PotlatchDeltic ceased trading on Nasdaq after January 30, 2026, and a Form 25 was filed on February 2, 2026. The combined company initially retained the Rayonier name and trades on the NYSE under the ticker RYN.
