About E2open, Inc.

E2open developed cloud-based software that helps large manufacturers and retailers manage their supply chains. Its platform connected a company with its suppliers, contract manufacturers, logistics providers and customers, so that orders, forecasts, inventory and shipments could be shared and tracked across the whole network. Customers were mostly big electronics, high-tech and consumer goods companies with complex global supply chains.

The company was founded in 2000 as a joint venture backed by a group of major technology manufacturers, including IBM, Hitachi, Toshiba, Seagate, LG Electronics, Matsushita, Nortel and Solectron. The goal was to build a shared electronic marketplace for the electronics industry. Over time it shifted from an exchange model to selling subscription software for supply chain collaboration and planning.

E2open went public on NASDAQ in July 2012 under the symbol EOPN. As a public company it kept growing its subscription revenue but continued to post losses, and its share price fell well below the levels reached after the IPO. Competition from larger enterprise software vendors and the cost of expanding its platform weighed on results.

In February 2015 E2open agreed to be acquired by private equity firm Insight Venture Partners for $8.60 per share in cash, about $273 million. The tender offer and merger were completed in March 2015 and the shares were removed from NASDAQ. The company later returned to the public market in February 2021 through a merger with a SPAC, trading as ETWO, and was acquired by Australia's WiseTech Global in 2025.
