About Cepton Inc
Cepton, Inc. made lidar systems for cars, smart cities, smart spaces and industrial uses in the U.S., Japan, China and other markets.
Its automotive-grade sensors included Cepton Ultra, a thin lidar using MagnoSteer technology and a proprietary ASIC chipset, offering 300-meter range at 10% reflectivity and 0.05° resolution. Vista-X reached up to 200m for long-range ADAS L2+/L3 and AV L4/L5 uses and smart infrastructure, while the very small Nova reached up to 30m for near-range uses.
Industrial sensors included Vista-P, with up to 200m of range, and Sora-P, a compact, quasi line-scanning unit with a very high scan rate that profiled fast-moving objects for free flow tolling and other industrial tasks.
Founded in 2016 and based in San Jose, California, Cepton became a subsidiary of Koito Manufacturing Co., Ltd. as of January 7, 2025. It was delisted from the Nasdaq in January 2025, last trading on January 6, 2025 at $3.25.
