Pacer CFRA-Stovall Equal Weight Seasonal Rotation ETF (SZNE)

The Pacer CFRA-Stovall Equal Weight Seasonal Rotation ETF was a fund built around the well-known pattern that U.S. stocks have tended to do better from November through April than from May through October. Based on research by CFRA strategist Sam Stovall, it rotated between groups of S&P 500 sectors depending on the time of year, using equal-weighted versions of those sectors.

During the stronger half of the year the fund held more economically sensitive sectors such as consumer discretionary, industrials, information technology and materials. During the weaker half it switched to defensive sectors, consumer staples and health care. Holding the equal-weighted versions of each sector meant smaller companies counted as much as the largest ones.

The fund was launched by Pacer ETFs in 2018 and listed on NYSE Arca. It attracted a niche following among investors interested in seasonal strategies but remained small compared with Pacer's larger funds. Performance depended on whether the seasonal pattern held in a given year, and in several years the rotation lagged a simple S&P 500 holding.

On April 30, 2026 Pacer Advisors announced that it would close and liquidate the fund. It began moving its portfolio to cash around May 1, trading was halted before the market opened on May 15, 2026, and remaining shareholders received cash equal to net asset value. Investors can still get sector exposure through standard equal-weight sector ETFs.
