 The
iShares Commodities Select Strategy ETF (COMT) is an exchange-traded
fund that seeks to track the Bloomberg Roll Select Commodity Total
Return Index. The fund was launched in 2010 and is managed by
BlackRock, Inc.
The Bloomberg Roll Select Commodity Total
Return Index is composed of 22 commodity futures contracts
representing the energy, precious metals, industrial metals, and
agricultural sectors. The index uses a "smart roll" methodology that
aims to minimize the negative effects of contango and maximize the
positive effects of backwardation.
The fund provides exposure
to a diversified basket of commodities, which can help to improve
portfolio diversification and potentially reduce volatility. However,
it should be noted that commodities can be highly volatile and subject
to fluctuations based on supply and demand factors, geopolitical
events, and other factors.
As of March 23, 2023, the top
holdings of COMT included futures contracts for Brent crude oil,
copper, gold, and soybeans. The fund had a net asset value of
approximately $1.8 billion and an expense ratio of 0.48%.
