NYLI Cleaner Transport ETF (CLNR)

The NYLI Cleaner Transport ETF was an exchange-traded fund that invested in companies involved in environmentally efficient transportation, such as electric vehicle makers, battery and charging suppliers, and other firms tied to lower-emission mobility. It was introduced in October 2021 as the IQ Cleaner Transport ETF, part of the IndexIQ Dual Impact lineup of thematic funds managed by New York Life Investments.

A distinctive feature of the Dual Impact funds was a commitment by New York Life to donate 10% of the fund's management fee to nonprofit organizations connected to the fund's theme. The funds were later rebranded under the NYLI name as New York Life Investments consolidated its ETF brands.

The fund launched near a peak in enthusiasm for electric vehicle stocks and struggled to gather significant assets as the sector cooled in 2022 and later years. Small thematic funds with low assets are often closed by their sponsors because they do not cover operating costs.

On February 28, 2025 the sponsor announced that the fund would be liquidated. It stopped accepting creation and redemption orders and ended trading after the market close on April 9, 2025, and shareholders still holding shares were expected to receive cash liquidation proceeds around April 16, 2025.
