In 2016, Memorial Resource Development Corp. was acquired by Range Resources Corporation (RRC), an independent natural gas and oil company that engages in the exploration, development, and acquisition of natural gas and oil properties in the Appalachian and Midcontinent regions of the United States. The acquisition expanded Range Resources' operations into the Terryville field, which was one of the top dry gas assets in the United States. The purchase price for Memorial Resource Development was approximately $3.3 billion, including the assumption of debt.
